Cross Boarder Laws - Do they exist? If Not! Why Not?

It never seems to amaze me why  LAWS designed to keep the public SAFE from  SPEEDING HOONS are so easy to "FLAUNT". This perhaps is an EXTREME example, but seriously, this is something that the Commonwealth Government is responsible for.......not the State Governments.

What use is a Ruling which has been made in a Victorian Court if it can be overuled by simply crossing boarders into another state?

The driver referred to in the story below, was jailed for three (3) meirsely months and banned from driving for Five (5) years; and rightly so.  He did his time in a Victorian Jail and then moved to Queensland, where he applied for a new licence, which he stated he needed so he could work in a particular industry, and was granted a licence by the court.  HELLO! What am I missing here?   Now the interesting thing is that he is not working in Queensland or anywhere else, but he STILL has his licence!

The Laws that are designed to keep our roads safe are a joke Mr Rudd! What are you going to do about this, and other instances like this? I'll bet you'll do absolutely nothing!

The Daily Telegraph story from 2008

A P-PLATER who hit a record speed of 255km/h in a rally car during a police chase from NSW to Melbourne has been jailed for three months. The police air-wing was called in to track Justin Pickering after he evaded pursuing police several times, speeding up as they closed in on the Hume Highway.

Driving a $54,000 high performance Subaru, Pickering clocked one of the fastest speeds recorded in Victoria.

Broadmeadows Magistrates Court heard the 20-year-old had been disqualified from driving in Queensland when he got a Victorian drivers license, and had prior driving offences in Western Australia. Pickering was driving home to Melbourne from Sydney on August 2 last year when police intercepted him travelling over 200km/h at the NSW town of Holbrook.

The court heard he sped off when the NSW police officer stopped his car to get out. Pickering slept the night in his Subaru Impreza WRX STI sedan at Albury.

He was detected the next day by radar speeding between Euroa and Longwood, hitting 185km/h, before reaching a peak speed of 255km/h at Seymour. A witness had to jerk his car to avoid a collision as Pickering sped past, weaving in and out of traffic, the court was told.

Prosecutor Sen-Constable Andrew Folley said police followed Pickering but pulled back when he reached dangerous speeds of over 200km/h. Sen-Constable Folley said police experts estimated that at 250km/h, a car would take 367m or eight seconds to stop.

Pickering was arrested after he drove into a dead-end street in Craigieburn. Police searched the car and found illegal fireworks. The Subaru was seized for two days under anti-hoon legislation.

Pickering, of Malvern, pleaded guilty to six charges, including reckless conduct endangering life, driving without P-plates displayed, and exceeding the speed limit. Magistrate Robert Kumar sentenced him to nine months jail, but suspended six months. He cancelled Pickering's license for five years, and fined him $2000.

Mr Kumar said the court needed to send a strong message to the community that speeding motorists would not be tolerated. "Some innocent person on the Hume Highway could have been killed, it's by good luck rather than good management," Mr Kumar said. "I've been on the bench a long time, 22 years, and I've never seen anything like this." Mr Kumar commended police for not pursuing Pickering at dangerous speeds, which could have ended in a fatally.

He said he was amazed a person could be suspended from driving in one state, but obtain a license in another.

Defence lawyer Stan Waites said Pickering was developmentally delayed and immature.

He said Pickering did not deceive the system, and the Queensland disqualification period had ended when his client applied received a Victorian license.

WELL IT MAY INTEREST MR STAN WAITES THAT PICKERING HAS DECEIVED THE SYSTEM BEING NOW LICENCED TO DRIVE IN QUEENSLAND AND IN FACT ANY STATE EXPECT VICTORIA.

SOMEONE PLEASE SAVE US FROM THIS IDIOT!

Kevin Rudd - Reality TV - HA! HA! HA!

Just listening to the 7.30 report on the ABC. Abusive, nasty, ill informed, arrogant, dictator. He believes that he is a Leader. What Say You?

Kevin Rudd - It's Time

It is very hard to understand why anyone in their right mind would even consider voting for this imbecile. First they had an incompetent Beasley who they retained as leader until they could find a new spin doctor. They found Kevin Rudd who took over the spin from Beasley just before the 07 election and removed a tried and tested government who had a plan, and who had been working the plan for 10 years and had created a substantial surplus.  And now in 2010 we only hear spin. Nothing plausible at all really. Kevin Rudd the destroyer. Kevin Rudd the eliminator. The man who has singularly destroyed all the good work done by the previous government in setting up Ordinary Australians for the future. Rudd has spent our future. He has spent your taxes and now he expects YOU to pay again with your blood, your sweat and your tears. Why would anyone believe that after three years of binge spending that Kevin Rudd could now possible have gotten it right. Come on Australia - It's time to kick this goose out!
